Hey everyone. I recently heard of this program they offer, but dont know much about it. Do you know anything about it that you can tell me, is it a good program to get into? Well I am 18 and going to recive my GED in about 2-3 weeks.. I am a hard and strong worker and love to learn, but just weak when it comes to school. I looked up IBEW and noticed that the requirments are 18 yrs or older.. High school diploma, Or GED. Drug free.. one year of high school algebra. From what i see i pass all of that, well taking the test for my ged in 2-3 weeks.. But i am jsut wondering about the apprenticeship program for residential electrician... how long does it take for the apprentices hip program... Do you get paid while working as an apprentice.. What do you do during/after the apprenticesship... ANYTHING that you know about IBEW.. ( apprenticeship) Is it a good field or place to work for/as... I dont have no experiance in electrical field, but very intrested will they be expecting me to have a back ground of electrical .. and throw this huge test at me all about electrical?? Of course it would be a PLUS to know some.. But then again apprenticeship is to learn .. ANy HELP will be greatly appreciated Thanks

Will I be able to afford an apartment with my budget?
I work as an apprentice electrician and on a normal job I make 10 an hour but if I go on a scale job or prevailing wage job I get 25 an hour. Most of my companies work is scale. Probably 75 percent of it. Can I afford an apartment and all of my bills including a car payment with this money. Can I do this if I don't always make 25 an hour? Yea I work full time

Please Help With Linear Programming Problem?
Contracting: The BJ Electrical Company needs to hire master electricians and apprentices for a one week project. Master electricians receive a salary of $750 per week and apprentices receive $350 per week. As part of its contract, the company has agreed to hire at least 30 workers. The local Building Safety Council recommends that each master electrician spend three hours for inspection time during the project. This project should require 25 hours of inspection time. How many of each type of worker should be hired to accomplish the project and still meet the contract safety requirements?
Becoming an Electrician, College, Military, or Apprenticeship?
Hello, I was thinking about becoming an electrician or other physical skill based job, i was wondering if anyone has any ideas about what path i should take. I was thinking possibly military first as that would give me a lot of experience and then try to become certified after or is it better to do an apprenticeship first, get certified, and then work for yourself or a company. Any advice would be helpful, not just in electrical work but in other jobs like a machinist, i am a very hands on and creative person

How do I talk my daughter out of going to trade school?
My daughter told me that she wants to go to trade school to become an electrician. She's always been interested in technical things and admittedly knows more than me about being handy around the house, but I don't think it's right for her to make that her career. My wife never worked and I want my daughter to just find a good husband.
Bring electrician tools to Sydney?
My employer in Sydney wants me bring my own tools in the performance of my daily tasks. These include screw drivers, wrenches/spanners, drill, pliers, etc.. etc..I guess more than twenty items in the list. Is this possible/allowed in the airports?

Whats the highest salary an electrician can earn?
My friend has not gotten his GED from high school, but he is working as an electrician. He's already making about 20 dollars and hour, but I'm trying to convince him to go back to school because he will find better positions. Is anyone out there an example of a non-high school graduate who has gone far in the industry? or have information that would be helpful in convincing him to go back to school?
What are my chances of becoming an electricians apprentice?
My grandfather Trained to become an electrician, and now runs his own business, and my father has worked with him for years. I love hands on work and am extremely interested in becoming an electrician. You call my current boss, and she will tell you I am the hardest worker she has, and can always be counted on to handle situations that she cant. (due to whatever reason.) I am 21 years old country boy, and have a strong work ethic. But here is what has turned people away from me in the past, and I am hoping to find out that this is not the case here. When I was junior in highschool, at 17 years of age, I recieved a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana. I know it doesnt matter that I havent touched the stuff since, and dont plan too, but I am hoping these people can look past that in the hiring process. What do you think, do I have a chance of getting the apprenticeship?
Electrician to Electrical Engineer?
I am working as an apprentice electrician--what are my best options to try to become an engineer (probably Electrical)? I'm looking for something that's faster than a normal degree. Can I get abbreviated schooling to become an electrical engineer in less than 4 years because of my applicable experience? And I have heard that I might be more employable or command a better salary because of my field experience as well--is that true?
How to get an Electrician Apprenticeship?
Hello so, I've been looking for an Electrician Apprenticeship, I've gone to every electrical shop I could find in my area, Hell any place that has to do with electricity I brought my resume to them said I was willing to work for next to nothing, I just wanna learn and I got no interest. I have no idea how to go about finding an apprenticeship. My whole family has white collar jobs but, that really doesnt really interest me. I am not looking for a 9-5 with paid lunch and holiday. I'm looking to work my hands to the bone and learn a trade, I have 2 years experience working general labor, and factory work but I don't really have any experience in the electrical field. How do I get an apprenticeship without any connections? Where do i go? I just cant seem to find anyone or anything about it. All I know is theres a 5 year training process, and There is a union tho idk how to join it or if i can before I have journeymen status I live in Albany, NY if that matters idk if the process goes by area. Thank you for your help.
Have you ever heard of this and is there a name for the behavior?
I have a German Nephew. His attitude is odd. His mom doesn't know what is going on with him... He is angry all the time. He strikes worse at the people who love and tolerate him the most. When things are good he insults everyone. When things are bad he gets very verbally abusive. He keeps wishing his mom was dead. He makes racist remarks. (his life is okay.. even in the economic down turn) He was kicked out of the army because he picked fights with the Mexicans and Black officers. The army kicked him out because his need to fight with everyone but the enemy.. & his lack of respect for authority figures. He has this love of weapons... None of his siblings act this way. (before the army)He dropped out of high school.. fought with the White teachers..he was always disrupting classes.. his teachers said he was very smart.. but seem to need their attention. When they didn't give it to him.. he would go ballistic. He married somebody with a drug problem that didn't want him.. she assumed he would be her ticket from her mom. .. up until she found herself working at a dairy queen to support him .. while living in her mom in law's. He's very verbally abusive to her and she puts up with it because she's living with his mom.. He was fired from an electrician apprentice job, and two fast food places.. because he threatened customers for talking down to him. He seems to always be the victim... He has panic attacks and looks for excuses to be physically violent.. with people he doesn't know.. he thinks he is smarter or superior ...he gets grandiose ideas and even when they fail.someone else is always to blame... they usually fail because they are not based in reality. He's not a real alcoholic but when he wants to be perceived as tough he'll glug a case of beer and chain smoke cigarettes.. He bought a huge bag of weed but didn't smoke it all because he had seizures and cardiac distress...hasn't tried weed since. What is this? The army had sent him home on dishonorable discharge.. with a medical statement.. he says he had post traumatic stress syndrome.. but ..his behavior has been like this since before his panic attacks/army. .. She would like to know what she is dealing with..is this just some odd behavior.. or something that needs therapy?

Joel Perez Electrician School
Pre Apprenticeship Training Program .If you want to gain basic electrical knowledge to perform simple wiring projects in your home.If you are interested in a career as an electrician.Electricians connect all types of wire to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets, or other components. They join the wires in boxes with various specially designed connectors. During installation, electricians use hand tools such as conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, and wire strippers, as well as power tools such as drills and saws. After they finish installing the wiring, they use testing equipment, such as ammeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to check the circuits for proper connections, ensuring electrical compatibility, and safety of components.

Apprentice electrician looking to move and work in the states...Where to start?
Hi, I'm an electrician living in Canada, I want to live and work in the USA, but don't know where to start. I'm not made of money but I can afford any visa's that may be involved. My largest concern is getting someone from another country to say they will hire me. I'm looking for the first few steps I need to take to get this on the road. Also, my fiancee is a USA native....if that opens up more possibilities. Thank you for any help you might be able to extend my way. 9month of HVAC school,I realize its not for me & want to switch to a Electrician Apprentice program, should I?
After 9 months of school of Hvac,(Fortis Institute) I realized Hvac is not for me, and don't desired any passion to continue on, plus my instructor is complete a**hole and always yelling and cursing in the workshop,(but never at me), yes he a experience technician but not a good teacher,I am not learning anything, every module the class get bigger and more students, the instructor have no control of the classroom, this is a 1st year program, the students don't get undivided attention, plus I know HVAC is a beyond heavy labor job,lot of grunt work, and also put lots of wear and tear in your body over the years, I suppose to Graduated in Oct 2012, its a 14months course (started August 2011) now if I switch to a Electrician Apprentice Program, its 9 months, starts in July 2012 finished in April 2013, plus I am only 24 years old, so should I do it?
