How to prepare to become an electrical engineer?

I am in high school currently and plan to take all of the appropriate classes to become an electrical engineer. All of the most advanced math classes and science classes. However, I am a very self-driven student and am wondering if there are any books I could read or anything online that would help me in my quest to mastering the art of the electrical engineer. Any tips would be appreciated as well.

I have an electrical outlet that I have my cable and TV plugged into. The only problem is it's not in the center of a wall where my media furniture is placed. It's about 5 feet from the door and it's in a very odd place and position. It's so hideous to look at but everything I put by it to cover it up is just award and doesn't look right. I was standing a metal ladder on my enclosed porch, but the electrical outlet is inside the home, not out on the porch. I successfully drilled the first hole in the concrete ceiling with no effect. I am very confused on what i want to do. I like the technology of electronics and everything, but i don't really know what i would be in for if i chose the electrical engineering field. I love car audio stuff especially, but also pretty much every new technology like computers and cell phones etc. Does one career get paid more? Hi everyone, I am wondering if there were any special tool to make a square/rectangular housing in a concrete/brick wall for an electrical box? Generally we can drill a round hole using a masonry bit, then there should be a tool to convert that round hole into a housing for an electrical outlet. I've been updating all the electrical outlets in a room and now a light switch doesn't work. This is one of those switches which controls a certain plug of one outlet. I had a light in the outlet and every time I came into the room I would use the switch on the wall instead of going to the lamp and switching it on. Is this a bad wiring job on my part or do I need a certain outlet which can handle such functionality?

What could be causing so many electrical problems in my home?

The electrical outlet behind my TV is not working, i unscrewed it and the wires are black. Another electrical outlet if I plug in the bottom holes the lamp won't work but the top works. The garbage disposal isn't working and a handyman said before I replace it to see if it's not an electrical problem. Any ideas? the cable guy turned all my breakers on/off to try to make the burnt outlet work and I think that made things worse for some reason. The tv works with an extension chord on another outlet.

My room only has two-pronged outlets and I was wondering how much it would cost for an electrician to convert the outlet into a properly grounded 3-prong outlet.
