What would happen of you cut one of the cables in a post tensioned floor in a building?

I am an electrician by trade and I do a lot of core drilling to penetrate floors between levels in a building. Someone suggested to me that I should always check with the building engineer before I drill to be sure it is not a post tensioned floor I am drilling through. They explained that if I cut a cable in the post tensioned floor, the cable could come flying out of the side of the building... any truth to this???
