What are the electrical codes for replacing wiring on walls affected by water damage?

My home was built in 1955. Two months ago I had a pipe break between the walls. I had an electrician come in to add a few outlets while my walls were open. The electrician told me all of the wiring in the affected walls needed to be replaced because of the water damage. In order to make that change they needed to change and bring my breaker box up to code. My insurance - thankfully has agreed to cover the cost of upgrading and replacement. However - they need to know the electrical codes that caused this change. My electrician gave me an email with codes regarding overloading the existing breaker box and having each appliance on it's own circuit. Not the codes regarding water. I have been trying to get a hold of him for those codes for two days and haven't heard back. Does anyone know what those codes are so I can send this claim back to my insurance company? Thank you so so so much for your guidance.
