Would a career as an electrician be good?

The classes in my high school were boring and theoretical. Tired of them, I chose an engineering major in college. The first two years or so were straightforward, but now it's just as theoretical! I want something practical that I can see with my own eyes. I also don't like the people at my university as they move too fast, and the atmosphere at my community college is more laid back. Should I do it? Is the employment and pay good? Thanks for your answers.
