Questions about computer jobs and Electrician Apprenticeship Programs?

I really want to work with computers but I don't know any. I really like video games and I would more than love to make them, but I dunno how much that pays and I doubt it's a realistic goal. If I couldn't do anything with computers, I was thinking about becoming a electrician because I heard from a friend that he makes roughly 30$/hr. I told him I was thinking about it and he told me to join a Apprenticeship Program, I was wondering what do you need to join one. (Education, Any money, Blah)
