How do I unplug the electrical wires from a 98 civic distributor?

I'm not talking about the spark plug wires but the grey electrical pigtail wires. They are clamped in there somehow and I have been trying for 20 minutes to get it off and I'm afraid I'll break it. How the heck does this thing come off?
