Whats the most an electrician can get paid? Don't care if it's dangerous?

I have tried college and can't seem to get good grades, probably cause I'm too lazy and not that smart. Anyways, the idea of being an electrician sounds fun becuase you get to work with your hands and your work would change frequently and not be that monotonous. But I've done research and the average income for an electrician seems to be <$50,000... but some make as much as like $80,000. How do some electricians make so much?
